    14 x 6.5 The Velvetone

Overview

This is a one-off big brother of the standard 14"x5.5" Velvetone. Like the Retrosonic's rare big brother, I didn't even know this existed until July 2022 - it's certainly not listed as an option in any catalogue. Morgan Deveney sent me screen shots of a conversation he'd had with its owner in 2017 and it's certainly a legitimate model; Mapex themselves confirmed its existence and the fact that it was the only one made (see redacted email thread).

I'll try to track down the original owner via Morgan to see if he still owns this unicorn! Later note: HE DOES! (Would you have sold it? Thought not. Me either!) His name is Graeme Law and he was kind enough to send more photos of this unique model.  Graeme you are one very very lucky man!

The catalogue number is an educated guess of what it would have been, had it become a production model.

Photos courtesy of Graeme Law. Cheers Graeme, you're a legend!
