This beautifully crafted Black Panther snare drum captures the bold spirit of the ancient Mayan civilization.This 14x5.5, 1.0mm steel shell is embossed with traditional Mayan eagle/human mask art. The shell’s bearing edge is rounded on the batter side for greater head to shell contact. The result is a stunningly attractive drum with tremendous projection and great feel. The drum is also equipped with black hardware that has been brushed with bronze. Die cast hoops provide extra sensitivity and piercing crack. A specially designed Remo® Fiberskin batter head tops off the exotic look of this highly collectable instrument.The Special Edition Mayan Snare also comes with a Black Panther Deluxe Padded Carrier Bag.
These are incredibly rare snares and tend to go for silly (although probably justified) money when they do show up on the second-hand market. They were officially retired in 2009, although they do show up in the 2012 Mapex Japan catalogue.
