Overview
These 8mm Maple, chrome die-cast hoop snares only seem to be listed in the 1997 Black Panther Catalogue, at a time where Mapex seemed to be making a drum out of every material going and in every size imaginable - there's over 40 snares listed!
They're badged as "Bird's Eye Maple".
Photos of this rare 1997 model took ages to track down, but I eventually found these shots in April 2022 on the South American selling site Mercado Livre. They are from a seller called FER1039 from Quilmes in Buenos Aires. Unfortunately I can't contact them, since you need a recognised method of ID to set up an account, which obviously I don't have. I'm trying to find a way round it though.
