Overview
One more snare that's currently in the "Here Be Dragons" category due to an almost complete lack of information.
The example in the main shot is owned by Graham Horton who posted it on one of the Mapex Drum Fan Facebook pages in December 2021 looking for any details about it. The previous owner had sold it on for...well, let's say, less than market value...as he hadn't had interest in it. Graham bit his hand off - can you blame him?
Following a good deal of discussion in the group, the current consensus is that it's a Thomann special, something akin to the "Brown" version listed elsewhere on this site. The shell finish looks remarkably similar, but this model is deeper at 6.5", has black rather than chrome hardware, powerhoops rather than die-casts, and a Saturn throw-off rather than the Orion version. But looking at the serial numbers that one is badged "LG" and this one "LH" so that suggests they are closely related. The mystery deepens.

...which Brad Brassington did when he spotted one on eBay, and subsequently bought it, in late 2022. Initially I thought it was the Ash Burl Coffee Burst, but on double checking the pattern of the finish in his photos, it's definitely this one. Nice scoop Brad!
