Overview
Details are a tad sketchey on this particularly gorgeous example of a Walnut shell, but I'm working on filling in the blanks.
The shell itself is 14"x6.5" and it's finished in what's usually termed "Brown Sugar Burst" on other similar shells. It appears to be a 6ply shell which would normally put it in the 5.1mm (ish) range rather than the thicker 8.5mm shells of the mid-2000s Walnut shells. But honestly that's guesswork at the moment, as is the assumption that it's a late 2000s production, since it's got the later Black Panther badge, but still has the low-mass oval lugs of the pre-2010 snares.
This example belongs to Alan Bentley (from whom I bought my Memphis a few years back) and is actually his second snare of this type. Alan sold the first one, then luckily managed to grab another one, then went to sell that one, it didn't sell, and it now he's really happy he held onto it. Sometimes I think the universe is telling you to keep your Mapex baby!
Came with a Black Panther case.
