Overview
Spotted this rare beast in a photo with some other Black Panthers in a reply to a post on the Mapex Drums Facebook Page by Roberto Vazquez in late 2021 and had no idea what it was.
Roberto was kind enough to reply with the details and send a photo of the drum on its own.
It's a 10-lug, 4.1mm thick 14"x8" maple shell with 3mm exotic reinforcement rings, which I should imagine needs a small but committed team of sherpas to move around without inducing a hernia. This is all finished off in Coffee Burst, which was always a winner of a finish in my personal opinion.
Bit of a rare model this one. There appear to be a few out there...but only a very few!
