Overview
Released in 2005 and originally called "Natural Maple", this was renamed "Traditional Maple" in the 2007 USA catalogue, and then replaced with the Gloss Natural finish version (same shell, slightly different finish) in the international catalogue. Both versions continue in different catalogues until the range was retired in the range refresh in 2010. According to an article in Modern Drummer, this series was intended to provide a more affordable, cost-reduced option in the Black Panther range.
Note: Confusingly, this is not the same model as the "Natural Maple" model shown in the 2007 USA Black Panther catalogue which had the Gloss Natural finish.
A sidekick snare drum, the 10 x 5.5-inch maple comes with its own I.T.S. mounting bracket and can be mounted on a tom holder or sit in a snare basket. Either way, it produces tight and crisp rim-shots as well as subtle and articulate ghost notes.
